What is the best Potty Seat?

potty seat

What is the best potty seat? Where do you keep it in your home?

We have been through 5 or 6 potty seats over the years. The best potty seats are the simple ones. We had a Baby Bjorn seat for our last couple and are using a Fisher-Price one with our current toddler (shown in picture).

I do not recommend potty seats with hinged lids. Hinged lids eventually cause pinching and the trauma of a single pinching episode can end potty training for months. We will no longer purchase potty chairs with cushioned seats. Our cushioned potty seat cracked and the foam soaked up urine.

We keep our potty in the main room of our home, the kitchen. By keeping in view it reminds us the parents and our toddlers of the task at hand. Also, our toddlers tend to take a long time when they use the potty. By keeping the potty in the kitchen we are able to monitor our other children while helping with potty issues.
